چکیده

In Japan, the age-adjusted mortality due to colon cancer increased in both men and women from the postwar era to the mid-1990s, and, subsequently, gradually decreased (Cancer Information Service, 2015). Site-specific cancer mortality rates were: lung cancer, 23.9%, gastric cancer, 15.0%, and colon cancer, 11.9% (third-leading cause of death among men) in men, and colon cancer, 14.9% (firstleading cause of death among women) in women (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, 2012). Dietary habits, such as excessive calorie and animal fat intake, particularly meat, alcohol, and fat ingestion, are associated with the development of colon cancer. Excessive fat intake, as well as obesity, increases the risks of hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis (Miyazaki et al., 2010), and colon carcinogenesis (Bardou et al., 2013). As recently reported, visceral fat obesity is strongly correlated with the risk of colon carcinogenesis (Endo et al., 2013). Mushrooms have physiological activities, such as antitumor activity (Ren et al., 2012), cardiovascular disease-preventing effects (Guillamon et al., 2010),

Effects of combination of calcium and aspirin on azoxymethane-induced aberrant crypt foci formation in the colons of mice and rats.

Human intervention studies have suggested an exciting synergistic action between calcium supplementation and aspirin intake in reducing the risk of colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to determine whether such a synergy can be demonstrated on azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colon aberrant crypt foci (ACF) formation in mice and rats. Female CF-1 mice and male F344 rats were injected subcutan...

Green tea polyphenols inhibit colorectal aberrant crypt foci (ACF) formation and prevent oncogenic changes in dysplastic ACF in azoxymethane-treated F344 rats.

Green tea and its constituents have shown cancer-preventive activities in many animal models. In order to prepare for a human trial on the inhibition of colon carcinogenesis, we conducted a study with green tea polyphenols as the preventive agent in an azoxymethane (AOM)-induced rat colon cancer model using aberrant crypt foci (ACF) as an end point. F344 rats were given two weekly injections of...

Chemopreventive effects of an HDAC2-selective inhibitor on rat colon carcinogenesis and APCmin/+ mouse intestinal tumorigenesis.

Epigenetic modulators, particularly histone deacetylases (HDACs), are valid targets for cancer prevention and therapy. Recent studies report that HDAC2 overexpression is associated with colon tumor progression and is a potential target for colon cancer prevention. This study tested chemopreventive and dose-response effects of Ohio State University HDAC42 (OSU-HDAC42), a selective HDAC2 inhibito...

Canola oil influence on azoxymethane-induced colon carcinogenesis, hypertriglyceridemia and hyperglycemia in Kunming mice.

Azoxymethane (AOM) is a potent genotoxic carcinogen which specifically induces colon cancer. Hyperlipidemia and diabetes have several influences on colon cancer development, with genetic and environmental exposure aspects. Here, we investigated plasma lipid and glucose concentrations in Kunming mice randomized into four groups; control (no AOM or oil exposure), AOM control, AOM + pork oil, and ...
